Mustang Island

No related to “Mustang Sally”, but certainly an enjoyable experience. We are sitting at Pioneer Beach Resort on Mustang Island near the town of Port Aransas on the Texas Gulf Coast. We arrived on tuesday afternoon, only to get the last available spot. We think this is the first time on this trip we have been in a full park. It’s  gorgeous, right on the shores of the Gulf with cement pads and WiFi….this is living!

It’s probably the most active park we have been in as well. It seems everyone has a dog or 2 or 3, plus most have either bikes or fishing gear or both. The first morning we were here there was a fishing derby, as you can see it was very popular.

You can bike for hours on the sandy beaches and that’s exactly what we have been doing, getting in about a 10 mile ride each morning. Wednesday we biked north into Port Aransas. We arrived there just after a few fishermen had sold off their morning catch.

Yesterday we headed out south towards the State Park. Yes, we’ve been there before, remember,  last November on our way south. Obviously we like this area.

Mustang Island really nice, we love it! We are back in Quartzsite for a few days, no fishing here.

I get the impression that you are heading back to Canada. Food and wine will be waiting for you at our home. There is always extra room at our table.
