It’s All Good
Saturday was just another just amazing day. We left early and bright, caught the 6:45 ferry to Nanaimo and were in Courtnay in time for a lunch with Garth & Lee. We haven’t sat down and had a chat with them for probably 4 or 5 years. It was just great to catch up. When we were in the Baja we had some good ones with those two!
Next, off to my aunt Molly’s. Just after we arrived, to our surprise, in walked my cousin Jim and his wife Karen in town from Winnipeg to visit with his mother. An hour later, Molly’s daughter Kathy drops in. This is just getting amazing. Then we were off to Kathy’s for dinner and met her kids. We were having a great time.
About 7 we headed back to Nanaimo for the 8:45 boat back to the mainland.
Now the other half of the story:
When you travel to and from Vancouver Island you need to pay special attention to the schedule of ferrry sailings. We checked the schedules on the boat and Garth cut another out of the local paper for us. According to the paper, if we missed the 8:45 boat, we still had about 3 or more before they shut down for the night. We had it all figured out, except we missed the asterisk (*). You know, the one that’s followed by except Saturdays. Long story short, we missed the last boat. The next chance to get back to the mainland wasn’t until 10:15 Sunday, it’s now about 9:00 Saturday night.
Guess who spent the night in the pet friendly Best Western? Mar got to have a bath, in a bath tub, a real one. And Buster got a new toy.

After a Sunday breakfast at White Spot (OK, OK, we’re homesick) we caught the 10:15, we were back home in our coach by 1:30 Sunday afternoon.
We hooked up with some old friends, some fun relatives, and had a night in a hotel with the dogs.
It’s all good!
