I started my day yesterday with a trip to the dentist. Marilyn wasn’t feeling well so I set off on my own. I hopped the water taxi from the island to the mainland and then set out on foot for old town and my date with the dentist Susana.

As I left the Embarcedero I passed the the dozen or so fish merchants set up by the tracks. You don’t have to look to know these guys are there. If the smell doesn’t give them away the dozens of pelicans hanging around waiting for a hand out will.

As I neared the Navy base I could see the familys and loved ones of the enlisted, all dressed in their finest, waiting to see their kin. Most Mexicans work a six day week til about noon or so on Saturday but the tempo of the city is definetley down a notch on this the sixth day.

I am now less than a week away from having two new crowns of my own to brag about. Including the root canal, the post and two crowns the total will be 9800 pesos. That’s about $825 or so in dollars.

After my appointment I walked back via a different route to the Embarcadero. I’d planned on buying my not feeling good sweety some flowers but back on the island chose a couple of bottles on wine instead. How can you go wrong with wine?

What do you think of the new background on the blog? Recognize it? It’s one of Marilyn’s paintings. She did it last year about this time over on the Caribrean coast in Tulum. Here’s the painting we saw then.

Marilyn has now sold 2 of her paintings and even more importantly is now regularily accepted by those who view her work as a talented artist. When we hear something about ourselves enough times we begin to believe it. She has made that transition. She too now believes she is a talented artist. She is outside right now, working on her latest.

We were out at the Mazatlan Airport on Friday, awaiting the arrival of our daughter Pam when Mar recognized Charlie and Rhonda heading for a plane to Edmonton. They were carrying a carefully wrapped package that just happen to contain one of Marilyn’s paintings, now framed.

I think everybody looks pretty happy with that transaction!

Our daughter arrived from Toronto, right on time and once we had the hugs under control, thanks to 4 wheel drive, we were soon sharing a cool Sol, with lime of course, at our very own tailgate party on the beach.

Continuing down the beach we arrived at Tres Amigos RV Park only to find a group of well lubricated senors and senoritas enjoying an impromptu party and dance at water’s edge.

I’m beginning to understand why they call this place Stoned Island

Meet Alexis and John. 9 years ago we were neighbors. We spent a few months across the street from each other at Cabo Glorietta in Cabo San Lucas in the Baja Sur. Once again, we are neighbors in an RV park. The thing I remember most about John was his tomatoes he was growing in buckets in the sun in front of his RV.

They are on their first visit to Mexico since 2001, we are enjoying our first visit to Mexico’s west coast. They tell us there is a bar here called the Soggy Taco (quite a name for a bar. Hope the beers cold). Just like to world famous The Office on the beach in Cabo. Guess where we gotta go before we leave here.

The hills around here are so colorful!

Same bike ride, looking down the beach into San Carlos. The mountain you see in the background is called Tetakawi (tooth of the dragon or goats tit, depending on who you’re talking to), certainly the signature of this area.

Tatakawi is also the focus of Mar’s current art project. Here’s how it looks this morning.

Yesterday’s weather was, as you can see, sunny and 30C (high 80’s F). You can tell it’s really warm when all the snowbirds are sitting in the shade.

See you tomorrow?

The easel and brushes are finally and I mean finally out. She’s been talking about painting and looking for the perfect inspiration since we left home. There is no doubt the beauty of San Carlos has provided that inspiration.

Here’s what the picture looked like after the first few hours.

The Next day, a few more hours and a big oops when the wind came up and blew the picture over.

I’m sure it will look different again this afternoon.

The beauty (have I used that word before?) of this place is getting through to us. Yesterday we topped up our original two night stay to take advantage of the weekly rate.

This is the perfect spot for bike riding. There are miles and miles of empty 4 lane highways and lots to see.

We checked out some real estate.

Rode along one of the local marinas

Enjoyed a coffee while we watched the fish jump.

Later in the day we took the dogs for a ride in the truck.

Took in some of the views

You see such random things down here. Like this table and chairs at a lookout. Apparently we were early for Happy Hour.
