How’s Your Spanish?

February 26th, 2010

I admit it, mine is awful. I try, I’ve been to “adult education” classes, bought the CD’s. I might even buy ROSETTA STONE, I’ve tried their demos and am quite sure it would help. I think it all comes down to time. Anyway, all this to introduce a new feature of  the amazing vanstones. At no aditional cost to you (as they say in Mexico, “Almost Free today”) we have added a feature called Spanish Word of the Day.

Scroll down abit, look to the left column. See it? Imagine, a new word everyday. Yesterday I learned Taza, the day before Servilleta (cup and serviette) Oops, forgot today’s. Oh well, look left, play the recording a few times……. it’s all good.

Just think; a word a day, 365 days a year. I’ll be public speaking down here by the time I reach 90. Or I could just buy the downloads behind this one and start years sooner.

So. What Ya Think?

January 19th, 2010

Notice the new header? How about the spots for your comments under every post? I wanted to add that so we could have a little more of a conversation. I’m  thinking I’m getting tired of  doing all the talking.

Good? Bad? Here’s your chance to pass on a little input.

This site is designed and maintained by a very talented gentleman by the name of Jason Vanstone (you guessed it, he’s our son). He’s in Toronto, I’m in Mazatlan but thanks to the magic of the internet we can work together on this. With you help of course.

You like? You don’t like? Roll down to Comments and let me know what you think.

Lois; Gotta say “Sorry about your luck”. Tom still doing that geat fish fry? If we happened to come through Rockport shall we stop for dinner? Shall we bring shrimp? There’s some great ones down here.

Larry, I check your website after I read the Cdn news….It is a must for me….I’m in boring central Florida (no beach, no ocean, no pig roasts, no water taxis, paved roads, colorless bars and chairs, lotsa happy hours in our RV park though, great neighbours, some golfers, some bikers (Harleys) but it is just not as adventuresome as your trip!!!! You write news or views that attract attention…..I’m painting toooo…..signage for our neighbours RVs ..e.g. a shit house for our neighbours who are Schmidt’s …you have talent in communications, keep it up.

Our Garmin

December 12th, 2009

You’ll recall that just a few days after we hit the road our old faithful GPS (we called her Belinda) siezed up on us on was replaced with a new Garmin Nuvi 1350T.  Before we left Canada we bought and downloaded the maps for Mexico. Yesterday we were in the middle of a town called Guyama, had no idea where we were and no idea how to get back to the park. Mexican towns aren’t known for their liberal use of street signs. They all know how to get around, after all, they live there.

Anyway, here was the first real test for the Mexican map program. We could either come right home or be lost for ever. I’m happy to report we are home. Safe and sound. Our new Garmin, with Mexico Maps has won a place in my heart.

    Hi Guys

Glad to see the new Belinda is doing well and fitting in. Our Sally wishes she was there so she could show off her navigation skills too.

Looks like a great place to hold up for a few days catch up on siesta time and keep the paper work current.

    Have fun
    Rick
