How’s Your Spanish?

February 26th, 2010

I admit it, mine is awful. I try, I’ve been to “adult education” classes, bought the CD’s. I might even buy ROSETTA STONE, I’ve tried their demos and am quite sure it would help. I think it all comes down to time. Anyway, all this to introduce a new feature of  the amazing vanstones. At no aditional cost to you (as they say in Mexico, “Almost Free today”) we have added a feature called Spanish Word of the Day.

Scroll down abit, look to the left column. See it? Imagine, a new word everyday. Yesterday I learned Taza, the day before Servilleta (cup and serviette) Oops, forgot today’s. Oh well, look left, play the recording a few times……. it’s all good.

Just think; a word a day, 365 days a year. I’ll be public speaking down here by the time I reach 90. Or I could just buy the downloads behind this one and start years sooner.

Car Wash

February 26th, 2010

We were off to Mazatlan yesterday, took the truck, for the last big shop before we head back north. The trick is to get everything we will need before we cross the border with nothing left that we have to toss at the border. We don’t want to be carrying any contraband like beef or booze through the border now do we.

While we were there in the parking lot we got the truck washed/shined. Sparkles eh?  That was 50 pesos (about $4.25) Here’s the gizmo they use to do the job.

My spanish isn’t good enough to learn more about the process, but I can tell you they only used a few gallons of water for the whole wash/shine process.
