Labor Of Love

February 28th, 2010

In just a few weeks there will be a new grand child in the Vanstone family and this Grandma is doing her best to help. There’ll be no disposable diapers in Canadadian landfills as a result of this child!

She has spent hours, no days, working on these diapers and now finally, with only the addition of a little velcro, they will be done. Then, I need to drive fearlessly across 3 countries and 3,000 miles to deliver our valuable cargo to southern Ontario. With a lot of luck we will be there for the all important day.

Marilyn, I just saw your ‘labor of love’. I give you so much credit for doing this and only wish my family would do it. To think not that many years ago, that is all we had was flannelette diapers and I can remember sewing them, but not as nice as your, and then putting them in the wringer washer!
I hope you make it back in time for the important day.
Once again, you are certainly contributing to a ‘green atmosphere’. Regards, Barb

Tsunami In Mazatlan

February 27th, 2010

I took this picture about an hour ago. I was going to use it as a reference point, you know the before photo followed by the after photo, so you could see the effect of the tsunami.

It’s now an hour after the tsunami was to arrive here in Mazatlan, we are now less then one hour from the cancelation of the  tsunami warning. Forunately, so far the before and after photos would be exactly the same.

I jsut drove down to the beach, marina area. Life is normal, people on the beach, workers at the coastal hotel construction site, gas stations open. Seems all is well. Thanks

We are Mr. Moro’s and 5 RV’s left the park for a few hours (no sea wall here, just the beach) went about 30 miles inland then returned to the same, so all still good here.

  4. Brian Says:

Thanks for the update! We leave to Mazatlan tomorrow and wanted a heads up of any beach/hotel damage. Glad to know all is well!

Tsunami Warning

February 27th, 2010

I awoke this morning to see that there had been earthquakes  in Chile, then heard there are tsunami warnings for the Pacific Ocean including Mexico. That got my attention!

Looks like we will see some extra waves at about 10:45 local time this morning, about 4 hours from now, and could see a couple of feet of extra water. I’ll keep you informed.

I assure you we will be safe.
