The Plans Are Set

November 30th, 2009

This morning we leave Sacramento, on our way to Bakersfield today we think. There’s a cute little Flying J we have our eye on there. It’s about 300 miles from here and three degrees warmer, so an easy drive to a little warmer and free rent. Who could ask for more.

We’ve got about a week before we meet George and Sue  in Nogales and head into Mexico together, probably on the 10th. Then about 10 days to work our way down to Mazatlan (it’s about 1,000 miles I think) then it’s warm sand and cold beer til we get tired of that. Yes, I’m sure you can get tired of warm sand. Getting tired of cold beer (Cerveza Fria) could take a little longer.

So get out your sunglasses and fasten your seat belt.

Thanks for the read.

It’s OK To Cry Over Spilt Milk.

November 27th, 2009

It seems that the gallon of milk we had in the outside  fridge (yes, the beer fridge)  had sprung a leak. So we poured what was left of our spilt milk in what ever was handy, put the conainers in the inside fridge, cleaned up the mess, and hit the road.

The road that day was the same road we showed you in Never Ever Again, so lot’s of rockin and rollin. It seems that one of the containers fell over, emptied, leaked out of the fridge, all over the kitchen floor, under the furnace to the outside. Which explains the white stuff on the outside of the coach. The really good news is that it only took a day or two to get the sour milk smell out of the coach.

Some days we think our house is small. We are in Capitol West RV Park and here’s our next door neighbor’s home.

Inside there he has about 14′ x 7′ of floor, no windows, and no vents. On the plus side he does have air conditioning, internet and cable tv. He has apparently been here for about two years. What ever works!

Are We There Yet?

November 25th, 2009

We’ve been on the road about 5 weeks now and we’ve done some miles. Actually about 4200 miles. So far our travels have taken us through 4 Canadian provinces and a dozen US states. We’ve slept in rest areas, truck stops, Walmarts, a couple of RV manufacturers and a half dozen different RV Parks. We are truly having the time of our lives and in spite of some of my choices for roads, and continue to become closer as we lay down the miles together.

We are now less than 2,000 miles from our Mexico destination, parked in the sand at Tres Amigos RV park  in Mazatlan, Mexico for Christmas.  The original plan was that we would spend a month or so there and head further south. Now we’re thinking we might just sit there for 2 or 3 months. As I said, we’ve done a lot of miles.

We are currently in Sacramento to share Thanksgiving with Mar’s sister and family. Sounds like a great time. After the weekend it’s southern Arizona for a few days,  then catch up with George and Sue Yates in Nogales. The four us will wind our way down through Mexico. I’m thinking I should start warming up the CB right now.

What’s that sound in the background you ask? That’s just Angel and Buster learning the words to “I’ve Been Everywhere.” Hit it Hank:

I did not know that Hank Snow was from your area of the world. Maybe it’s not that I’m old enough to appreciate Hank Snow. Maybe it’s that Hank Snow is “timeless”…..
