This clipping from a not too old newspaper is scotch taped to the wall in the visitors center at Tiffin Motorhomes in Red Bay Alabama and I gotta tell you, it caught my interest. Wasn’t able to visit the actual cemetery, probably not a bad idea after reading the comment in here about poodles and lap dogs, ouch!

We checked back into Meriwether Lewis Campground on our way through Tennessee and met the Camp Hosts, Bruce and Fran Baker from Cadillac, Michigan. They come down to Tennessee, and Meriwether Lewis on the Natchez-Trace Parkway once a year every year to host this park for the month of March. When at home and here, Fran carves red cedar into forks, spoons, assorted kitchen utensils. It’s really interesting to watch the process. She starts with basically a log (see them over her shoulder in front of Bruce there), and with the addition of skill and a lot of time makes something like these.

Here’s some, maybe most of the tools she uses in her craft.

Bruce and Fran also ride a tandem bike, so we had a lot in common. If you ever meet them, get Bruce going about the great rides they’ve had on their bike, especially Los Angles to Boston. They have almost 20,000 miles on their tandem, ours maybe 1,000 or 2,000…maybe.

Mar’s calling this one Yucatan Beach. We’ve been here, this is the ocean view from the home that Dale and Sheila , Tom and Lois rented just outside Chixulub, Mexico. We are looking north from the south shore of the Gulf Of Mexico in Yucatan State, Mexico, so I guess it all makes sense. She also says that’s it for Mexico pictures for now, we’re getting a little far north and Mexico pictures are getting too hard to paint. I have my fingers crossed, hoping the next one won’t be a snowy scene from somewhere we’ve been.
