When we were out for our run this morning, cruising down Main Street, showing our Svelte bodies to the world, I was watching our shadows. I seemed to find shadows fascinating today. When I can’t sleep at night I often turn on the radio and listen to Coast to Coast AM They sometimes talk about “Shadow People”. They talk about them like they are real. Are they? Is that what we have turned in to? 2 featurless shadows, quietly going down the street, moving from one section to the next. Constantly trading “first place by a head”, joining together, parting, moving together. Never stressing, never straining, it’s all so fluid! Often our shadows cross over or under other shadows. At one point my shadow snuck over and gave her shadow a kiss on her shadowy cheek. Her shadow didn’t seem to mind, nor did she. As we continued to run, my shadow, kinky shadow that he is, once again approached her shadow. Can’t tell you what he did next but I can tell you that my shadow has quite the imagination. Way To Go Shadow! Still no reaction, her shadow must be a little kinky too. OK, that’s all for today about shadows and running. We’ll just leave the rest to your imagination…

What a gorgeous day for a run! Temperature is around freezing, sun is absolutely stunning on a completely blue sky. there is no better day for a run. As 5550 people stand at the start line, the clock slowly moves to 9:00 AM. the run begins, the 112th running of the Around The Bay 30 K North America’s oldest road race. Yes, it’s even 3 years older than the Boston Marathon. You can just imagine the feeling being part of it all, the history, the tradition. I’m sure you’ll agree, truly memories for a lifetime. The first half of the run is through the streets of Hamilton as you work your way out along Burlington Bay. then the tough part starts, as you do the north side of Burlington Bay (in Burlington) the course becomes quite hilly, the really hard work begins. As you round the Bay, downtown Hamilton comes in to view and before you know it, you near the finish line as thousands cheer you on. Quite an achievement, I’m sure you will agree, and to all who did the run whether you finished or not “Good Show”.
We weren’t anywhere near Hamilton this morning. But at 9 this morning Marilyn and I set off on our own run around our neighborhood. More than a 3k, but not much more! I must say though, I can see the results of all our training and conditioning. I haven’t been training and it shows. Lot’s of heavy breathing, perspiring and heavy breathing. My knees hurt from all the pounding and my fat rolls hurt from all the jiggling.
Congratulations to Marilyn and Larry Vanstone for completing the First and Last Annual Run Around The Neighborhood Run!
We look forward to your support and encouragement in “Comments”

Let me set the stage: we get an email this morning from Dale of Dale and Sheila fame. They are in South Texas. He is “complaining bitterly” about having to put up with 85 degree weather while sitting by the pool, you know the speech. I’m sure he would have cried some more but what with having to hold that glass of libation with ice cubes all day (damn cubes keep melting) his fingers tire easily near the key board. Poor Fellow! You get the point.
The picture is what we saw this morning in beautiful Grimsby.
Dale, you’ve got it all wrong. This is the place to be. Here the ice NEVER melts.
